Apple Car moves into high gear

The Apple Car has been rumored for a long time, but it might finally arrive. There have been many recent developments, including a patent granted to Apple in mid- November for a car suspension system that would lower and lock into place when passengers enter or exit.

Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, known for his extensive sources, has claimed Apple has settled on building a fully automated self-driving car, rather than a car that incorporates more modest self-driving elements. This is thanks to a push from the new Apple Car lead, Kevin Lynch. Ideally, Apple wants to design a car that lacks a steering wheel and pedals, Gurman said, but could include an emergency override system.

Additionally, Gurman believes Apple recently hit a key milestone with the chip that will be the brains of the vehicle.
Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives has claimed Apple will likely announce a partnership with an as-yet-unknown auto firm in 2022. While Apple will stick to the automotive software, the automaker would handle manufacturing of the car. As for a release date, Apple is apparently aiming for 2025, although that is seen as optimistic even within the company itself.

The future Apple mixed-reality headset will feature wi-fi 6E technology, according to an Apple analyst. This is an upgraded version of the wi-fi 6 radio used in the iPhone 13 range, and opens a new 6 GHz band that offers faster data rates than older versions of the wireless standard. Kuo believes it will also prompt an uptake of the tech among Apple’s rivals.
